Write “Thank You” Notes

I sometimes feel things that seem easy to do are also the things that are easy not to do. We all are so busy in our lives that simple gestures are missing from our lives. One of those simple gestures is writing “Thank You” notes. So today I started my day by thanking my teacher.

Everyone loves to be appreciated – it’s human nature. We all have an intense desire to feel important. I truly love receiving affection from my friends who read my articles and I try my best to respond to every message with a thank you note. I try to express gratitude whenever I have an opportunity to do so. It shows you care and that you are courteous and compassionate.

So let’s discuss some of the benefits of being grateful, to encourage you all to adopt gratitude in life.

1. Strengthen Relationships

At some point in any relationship, you may feel that you are having more lows than highs. You may irritate each other with your habits or traits. The other person may take their stresses out on you and you may be arguing more than usual. Practising gratitude for that person and your relationship can help you to begin focusing more on the positives and what that relationship brings to you rather than the negatives.

You never know, you may actually find that the relationship brings more benefits to your life than you originally thought, and you may appreciate that relationship more than ever before.

2. Improves Physical Health

If you are in a healthy mental state, then you are more likely to be motivated to want to look after yourself physically, and this can lead to you taking more exercise or eating healthier. Grateful people experience fewer aches and pains. Not surprisingly, grateful people are also more likely to take care of their health. They exercise more often and are more likely to attend regular check-ups, which is likely to contribute to further longevity.

3. Improves Mental Wellbeing

Gratitude reduces toxic emotions, from envy and resentment to frustration and regret. Gratitude effectively increases happiness and reduces depression. If a person shifts from a negative state of mind where they have feelings such as anxiety and depression to a more positive state of mind using gratitude, then they can greatly improve their mental health.

Gratitude involves focusing on what you are thankful for in your life. If you have worries and they play on your mind, the worries can seem bigger and less manageable than they actually are. By practising gratitude, you can put your worries into perspective as you focus on what you already have and are thankful for.

4. Enhances Empathy

Grateful people are more likely to behave sociable, even when others behave less kindly. They are sensitive and emphatic toward other people and a decreased desire to seek revenge.

5. Thankful People Sleep Better

Practising gratitude can promote an improvement in your sleep. When you are in bed and ready to sleep, it is a time when your mind can work overtime. You may go over worries that have accumulated throughout the day and negative thoughts may rise to the surface. Spend just 15 minutes jotting down a few grateful sentiments before bed, and you may sleep better.

6. Improves Self-Esteem

Gratefulness improves self-esteem. It is found that rather than becoming resentful toward people who have more money or better jobs—a major factor in reduced self-esteem—grateful people appreciate other people’s accomplishments.

7. Increased optimism

If you are grateful for what makes you happy in your life, then you will attract more happiness. If you practice gratitude, then you are opening your mind to positivity—and so the law of attraction suggests that more positivity will come your way.

8. Make people like us

Those who are more grateful have access to a wider social network, more friends, and better relationships. This is likely because of the effect that being grateful has on how trustworthy, social, and appreciative we seem to others

Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul.
